Audi Q4 e-tron ADAS Calibration

The Audi Q4 e-tron sits on Volkswagen's MEB electric platform – the same architecture as the VW ID.4 and Skoda Enyaq. But Audi wraps it in Pre Sense branding and applies its own calibration protocols, so a VW-specific procedure won't work. If your Q4 e-tron's Adaptive Cruise Assist or Pre Sense went offline after collision repair, the MEB-specific sensor positions need recalibrating with Audi targets.

ADAS Systems on the Audi Q4 e-tron

The Q4 e-tron launched in 2021 with a comprehensive ADAS suite from day one:

  • Adaptive Cruise Assist – front radar behind the sealed front fascia (no traditional grille on the e-tron design)
  • Audi Pre Sense Front – standard AEB using radar and camera fusion
  • Active Lane Assist – windscreen-mounted camera with lane centring
  • Side Assist – rear radar sensors for blind spot monitoring
  • Rear Cross-Traffic Assist – warns of approaching vehicles when reversing
  • 360-Degree Camera System – optional on higher trims
  • Park Assist Plus – ultrasonic sensors for automated parking

Unlike MLB-based Audis (A4, Q5, Q7), the Q4 e-tron does not use the zFAS centralised controller. Its sensor modules operate independently – closer to the VW Group's MEB architecture. This makes individual sensor calibrations more straightforward, but each sensor still requires Audi-specific target positioning.

The radar mounting on the Q4 e-tron is behind a flush panel in the lower front bumper area – different from the grille-badge position on combustion Audis. Body shops accustomed to working on A4s or Q5s may not know where to look.

Common ADAS Issues on the Audi Q4 e-tron

After frontal collision or bumper repair: The Q4 e-tron's radar is mounted lower than on traditional Audis – behind the sealed front bumper rather than the grille badge. Minor parking impacts and low-speed collisions that seem cosmetic can shift the radar mounting. Adaptive Cruise Assist and Pre Sense both lose accuracy.

After windscreen replacement: Active Lane Assist and Traffic Sign Recognition depend on the windscreen camera. Replacing the glass without recalibrating leaves lane keeping and sign recognition offline. Our Windscreen Calibration (£199) covers this.

Garage unfamiliarity with MEB layout: The Q4 e-tron's sensor positions differ from every combustion Audi. Independent garages experienced with A4 or Q5 radar calibration may not locate the Q4's radar correctly. Our technicians use MEB-specific target setups alongside Audi calibration protocols.

Audi Q4 e-tron ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Audi Q4 e-tron

No. Combustion Audis like the A4 and Q5 mount the radar behind the four-ring grille badge. The Q4 e-tron's MEB platform positions the radar behind the sealed lower front bumper. This means body shops familiar with traditional Audi radar locations may miss it entirely – and calibration target distances are different.
