Audi Q7 ADAS Calibration

The Audi Q7 carries the most complex ADAS suite in Audi's SUV range – Night Vision Assistant, 360-degree cameras, Adaptive Cruise Assist, Side Assist, and the full Pre Sense package, all routed through the zFAS centralised controller. When front-end bodywork disturbs even one sensor, the zFAS module can flag faults across every system it manages simultaneously.

ADAS Systems on Your Audi Q7

The Q7 (4M, 2015+) features Audi's most comprehensive ADAS hardware in the SUV range:

4M (2015–2019):

  • Adaptive Cruise Assist – standard on S line and above, front radar behind grille badge
  • Audi Pre Sense Front + Pre Sense City – standard AEB on all trims
  • Active Lane Assist – windscreen-mounted camera
  • Side Assist + Rear Cross-Traffic Assist – rear radar sensors in bumper quarters
  • 360-Degree Camera System – optional on higher trims
  • Night Vision Assistant – optional infrared camera for pedestrian and animal detection in darkness

4M facelift (2020+):

  • All of the above, plus the zFAS module (J1121) on Vorsprung and Black Edition trims – centralising radar, camera, ultrasonic, and infrared sensor data through one controller
  • Predictive Efficiency Assistant – uses navigation data and radar to optimise speed

The Q7 shares its MLBevo platform with the Q5 but adds Night Vision and a wider sensor array. Night Vision uses an infrared camera mounted in the front grille area – separate from the radar but equally sensitive to front-end repositioning after collision or bodywork.

When Your Audi Q7 Needs ADAS Recalibration

After Collision or Bodywork

The Q7's large front end contains the highest sensor density of any Audi SUV: front radar behind the grille badge, infrared Night Vision camera in the grille area, windscreen camera behind the mirror, and front 360-degree camera below the grille. A single front-end collision can disturb three or more of these sensors – and on zFAS-equipped models, all faults cascade through one controller.

Night Vision Camera Misalignment

Unique to the Q7, A6, A7, and A8: the Night Vision infrared camera requires its own calibration procedure. If you've had front-end work and the Night Vision display shows a skewed or blank image, the infrared camera has shifted from its factory position. This is specialist equipment territory – most garages can't access the Night Vision calibration routine.

If your Q7 is displaying multiple ADAS warnings after a single repair event, the zFAS module is likely reporting cascading faults from connected sensors.

Audi Q7 ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Audi Q7

Yes. Night Vision Assistant uses an infrared camera in the front grille area that requires its own calibration procedure – separate from radar and windscreen camera calibration. If you see a blank, skewed, or pixelated Night Vision display after front-end work, the camera has shifted. We have the manufacturer-approved equipment to calibrate all Q7 ADAS sensors including infrared. The A6 uses the same Night Vision hardware.
