Audi Q2 ADAS Calibration

You've reversed into a car park post at low speed – barely a scuff on the Audi Q2's rear bumper. But now Side Assist is showing a warning and the blind spot indicators have gone dark. The Q2's compact dimensions put its rear radar sensors close to everyday impact zones, and what looks like cosmetic damage can shift a sensor enough to disable the blind spot system entirely.

ADAS Systems on Your Audi Q2

The Q2 (GA, 2016+) brings Audi's ADAS suite to the compact crossover segment:

  • Audi Pre Sense City – standard automatic emergency braking on all trims
  • Adaptive Cruise Assist – optional on S line and above, front radar behind the grille badge
  • Active Lane Assist – optional, windscreen-mounted camera behind rearview mirror
  • Side Assist – optional blind spot monitoring using rear radar sensors in the bumper quarters
  • Rear Cross-Traffic Assist – alerts when reversing out of parking spaces (paired with Side Assist)
  • Rear Parking Sensors – standard on most trims

The Q2 shares its MQB platform with the Audi A1 and Audi A3 – but its crossover ride height and squared-off bumper design position the sensors differently. The front radar sits behind the four-ring badge, while Side Assist radars are embedded in the rear bumper corners.

Common ADAS Issues on the Audi Q2

After Rear Bumper Repair

The Q2's compact body means the rear bumper takes most of the contact in low-speed reversing incidents. Side Assist and Rear Cross-Traffic Assist rely on two radar sensors in the bumper corners – if the bumper is removed, replaced, or panel-beaten, both sensors shift from their calibrated positions. This is the most common Q2 scenario: minor rear damage taking out the blind spot system.

After Front Bumper or Grille Work

Front-end work on the Q2 follows the same pattern as other Audis – the radar behind the grille badge shifts when the bumper is removed. If your cruise control stopped working after a front bumper repair, the radar needs recalibrating.

After Windscreen Replacement

If your Q2 has Active Lane Assist, the windscreen camera must be recalibrated after any glass replacement. Many windscreen companies replace the glass but can't perform the Audi-specific camera calibration – we complete what they started.

Audi Q2 Calibration Pricing

ServicePrice
Windscreen Calibration£199
Radar/Sensor Calibration£349
Collision Calibration£349
Full System Reset£499

Rear bumper work on the Q2 typically needs our £349 Radar/Sensor Calibration to restore Side Assist and Rear Cross-Traffic Assist – covering both rear radar sensors in a single session.

Audi Q2 ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Audi Q2

Yes. Side Assist uses two radar sensors embedded in the rear bumper corners. Even minor rear-end repairs that disturb the bumper can shift these sensors out of alignment. The warning lights won't return until the sensors are professionally recalibrated to the Q2's exact bumper geometry.
