Audi A7 ADAS Calibration

The Audi A7 Sportback is essentially an A6 with a fastback roofline – same MLB platform, same zFAS module, same ADAS hardware. But the A7's more steeply raked windscreen changes the angle at which the forward camera sits, and that means the A7 requires its own camera calibration reference distinct from the A6. If your A7's Active Lane Assist or Pre Sense stopped working after a windscreen replacement, the camera wasn't recalibrated to the Sportback's geometry.

ADAS Systems on Your Audi A7

The A7 shares its full ADAS suite with the A6, but the Sportback body style introduces calibration differences:

4G (2010–2018):

  • Adaptive Cruise Assist – optional, radar behind front grille
  • Audi Pre Sense Front – optional AEB from 2014+
  • Active Lane Assist – optional, windscreen-mounted camera
  • Night Vision Assistant – optional infrared camera behind the grille

4K (2018+):

  • Adaptive Cruise Assist – standard on S line and above, radar behind front grille badge
  • Audi Pre Sense Front + Pre Sense City – standard AEB on all trims
  • Active Lane Assist – standard, windscreen camera at a steeper rake than the A6 sedan
  • Side Assist – blind spot monitoring via rear radar sensors
  • Night Vision Assistant – optional on Vorsprung trim
  • zFAS module (J1121) – centralised ADAS controller

The A7's raked windscreen positions the forward camera at a different angle from the upright A6 sedan – same hardware, A7-specific calibration targets. The A8 shares the Night Vision option and zFAS architecture.

Common ADAS Faults on the Audi A7

After windscreen replacement: This is the most common A7 scenario. The Sportback's raked windscreen means the forward camera angle is critical – even small deviations from the correct mounting position cause Active Lane Assist drift and Pre Sense false triggers. If your windscreen fitter couldn't complete the camera calibration, our Windscreen Calibration (£199) resolves it.

After bumper or grille work: The front radar sits behind the four-ring badge, identical to the A6 and A5. Bumper replacement or grille removal shifts the radar alignment, disabling Adaptive Cruise Assist and Pre Sense simultaneously.

Night Vision recalibration: If your A7 has Night Vision Assistant and the front end has been repaired, the infrared camera behind the grille needs recalibrating alongside the standard radar – two sensors in the same impact zone.

Audi A7 Calibration Pricing

ServicePrice
Windscreen Calibration£199
Radar/Sensor Calibration£349
Collision Calibration£349
Full System Reset£499

Windscreen replacement on an Audi A7 Sportback almost always requires our £199 camera recalibration – the raked glass positions the camera differently from every other Audi sedan. If front-end work also disturbed the radar and Night Vision, our £499 Full System Reset covers the complete scope.

Audi A7 ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Audi A7

The A7 Sportback has a more steeply raked windscreen than the A6 sedan. Although they share identical camera hardware on the MLB platform, the camera sits at a different angle in the A7. Calibration targets must be positioned for the A7's specific geometry – an A6 calibration procedure applied to an A7 will produce inaccurate lane tracking and distance measurement.
