Audi A5 ADAS Calibration

New 360 cameras installed on your Audi A5, but the bird's-eye view isn't aligning properly. Or you've had the front bumper repaired and now Adaptive Cruise Assist shows a fault. The A5's ADAS sensors are precision-calibrated to the vehicle's exact geometry – when parts are replaced, fitted, or even refitted in a slightly different position, the whole system needs professional recalibration.

ADAS Systems on Your Audi A5

The A5 comes in Sportback, Coupe, and Cabriolet variants – all share the same ADAS hardware and sensor positions:

B8 (2016–2019):

  • Audi Pre Sense City – standard AEB at urban speeds
  • Adaptive Cruise Assist – optional, front radar behind grille badge
  • Active Lane Assist – optional, windscreen-mounted camera
  • 360-Degree Camera System – optional four-camera surround view for parking

B9 (2020+):

  • Full Pre Sense suite – Pre Sense Front + City standard on all trims
  • Adaptive Cruise Assist – standard on S line and above
  • Side Assist – blind spot monitoring via rear bumper radar sensors
  • 360-Degree Camera System – available on higher trims, four cameras requiring individual calibration
  • zFAS module – on Vorsprung trims, centralising all sensor data

The A5 shares its MLP/MLB platform and ADAS architecture with the A4 – the key difference is body shape, not sensor placement. Radar sits behind the grille badge, camera behind the windscreen, and 360 cameras at front, rear, and both wing mirrors.

Common ADAS Issues on the Audi A5

360 Camera Misalignment

The A5's optional 360-degree camera system uses four cameras that must be calibrated to produce an accurate bird's-eye composite image. When cameras are replaced – or when bodywork near a camera mount is repaired – the stitched image distorts.

A common scenario: four new cameras installed during bodywork, but the bird's-eye image shows visible seam lines and offset angles. The cameras are physically in place – but without calibration to your A5's exact dimensions, the composite stitching can't align.

Each camera needs individual calibration to the vehicle's dimensions. We calibrate all four cameras in a single session using manufacturer-standard targets.

After Front-End Repair

Bumper replacement or grille work on the A5 shifts the radar behind the Audi badge. On B9 models, this triggers faults across Adaptive Cruise Assist and Pre Sense simultaneously – both rely on the same front radar feed.

After Windscreen Replacement

The A5's Active Lane Assist camera is mounted behind the rearview mirror. Windscreen replacement dislodges it from its calibrated position. If your windscreen company couldn't complete the calibration, we handle it.

Audi A5 ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Audi A5

Yes. The 360-degree system relies on four cameras calibrated to produce a seamless composite image. Replacing even one camera – or disturbing its mounting point during bodywork – means all four need recalibrating. This is precision work that requires OEM-grade calibration targets.
