Audi Q8 ADAS Calibration

Audi's flagship SUV sits on the MLB Evo platform – shared with the Porsche Cayenne and Lamborghini Urus – and carries a near-identical sensor suite to the A8 sedan. The Q8 pairs the zFAS centralised controller with Night Vision, Pre Sense 360, and a full 360-degree camera system as standard. When a Q8 comes in after collision repair, we're typically recalibrating five or more sensor systems through a single zFAS reset.

ADAS Systems on the Audi Q8

The Q8 launched in 2018 with Audi's most comprehensive SUV ADAS package:

  • zFAS module (J1121) – centralised controller processing all sensor inputs, same architecture as the A8
  • Adaptive Cruise Assist – front radar behind the grille badge, with traffic jam assist
  • Audi Pre Sense 360 – front, rear, and side pre-collision systems working together
  • Active Lane Assist – windscreen camera with lane centring
  • Night Vision Assistant – infrared camera behind the grille, standard on Vorsprung trim
  • Side Assist + Exit Warning – rear radar sensors with door-opening alerts
  • 360-Degree Camera System – standard, using four cameras for bird's-eye parking view
  • Cross-Traffic Assist Front and Rear – radar-based warnings at junctions and when reversing
  • Park Assist – automated parking using ultrasonic sensors and cameras

The Q8 shares its MLB Evo underpinnings with the Q7, but the Q8's coupe-SUV roofline changes the windscreen camera angle – requiring Q8-specific calibration targets. The Q7 uses the older MLB platform without the Evo-generation sensor density.

When Your Q8 Needs ADAS Recalibration

After collision or bumper repair: The Q8's front grille houses both the main radar and Night Vision camera. Even a moderate-speed impact or bumper swap takes both offline. With the zFAS module linking all systems, a front radar misalignment can cascade into Pre Sense 360, Adaptive Cruise Assist, and Cross-Traffic Assist warnings – all from one sensor being out of position.

After windscreen replacement: The Q8's coupe roofline creates a different windscreen rake from the Q7. The forward camera angle is Q8-specific, and after glass replacement, Active Lane Assist and camera-based Pre Sense functions need recalibrating. Our Windscreen Calibration handles the camera at £199.

After bodywork near cameras: The 360-degree system has cameras in the front fascia, rear tailgate, and both wing mirrors. Panel repair or paint work near any of these points can shift a camera from its calibrated position, distorting the bird's-eye view.

Audi Q8 ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Audi Q8

Yes. The Q8 and Cayenne share the MLB Evo platform, along with the Lamborghini Urus. They use similar sensor hardware and mounting positions, but Audi's zFAS software and Pre Sense calibration targets are completely brand-specific. A Porsche or Lamborghini calibration procedure will not produce accurate results on a Q8.
