Audi e-tron ADAS Calibration

The Audi e-tron carries Audi's full ADAS suite on a dedicated electric platform – and without engine noise to mask sensor faults, you notice when something goes wrong immediately. Adaptive Cruise Assist behaves erratically, Pre Sense triggers a phantom braking event on the motorway, or the 360-degree camera view warps after a bumper repair. The e-tron's sensor array is dense, and its calibration demands are different from Audi's combustion models.

ADAS Systems on Your Audi e-tron

The e-tron (GE, 2019 onwards) and e-tron Sportback share a MLB evo platform with a comprehensive ADAS package:

  • Adaptive Cruise Assist – front radar behind the grille. On the e-tron, this also integrates with regenerative braking – the system adjusts regen levels as well as brake application when following traffic.
  • Audi Pre Sense Front – automatic emergency braking using combined radar and camera data. Operates at all speeds.
  • Pre Sense City – low-speed pedestrian and vehicle detection via the windscreen camera.
  • Active Lane Assist – camera-based lane keeping, mounted behind the windscreen.
  • Side Assist – rear-corner radar sensors in each rear bumper for blind spot monitoring.
  • Rear Cross-Traffic Assist – uses the same rear radars to warn of crossing traffic when reversing.
  • 360-Degree Camera System – four exterior cameras for parking and low-speed manoeuvring. Standard on higher trims, optional on entry-level e-tron.
  • Park Assist – ultrasonic sensors for automated parallel and perpendicular parking.

The e-tron uses the zFAS centralised ADAS controller (J1121), meaning multiple systems are interconnected. A fault in one sensor can cascade warnings across the dashboard – Adaptive Cruise, Pre Sense, and Lane Assist may all flag simultaneously from a single misaligned radar.

Common ADAS Issues on the Audi e-tron

After Collision or Bumper Repair

The e-tron's front bumper houses the radar sensor behind the grille – any front-end work from a minor parking impact to full collision repair requires radar recalibration. The rear bumper contains both Side Assist radar sensors, so rear-end repairs affect blind spot monitoring and cross-traffic alerts.

Because the e-tron's zFAS module connects all ADAS systems, body shops sometimes find that repairing one area triggers warnings in systems they didn't touch. This is the zFAS cascade effect – the same complexity we see on the A6 and Q7 – and it's why independent garages refer e-tron owners to us. The newer Q6 e-tron moves to a different platform entirely, but the calibration principles remain the same.

After Windscreen Replacement

The forward-facing camera behind the windscreen handles Active Lane Assist and Pre Sense City. After glass replacement, this camera must be statically recalibrated using manufacturer-approved targets. Many windscreen companies can replace the glass but lack the Audi-specific calibration equipment – our windscreen calibration service finishes the job.

Phantom Braking at Speed

EV owners are particularly sensitive to phantom braking because the absence of engine braking noise makes unexpected deceleration more noticeable – and more unsettling. If your e-tron's Pre Sense is triggering falsely on motorways or dual carriageways, front radar and camera recalibration typically resolves the issue. See our phantom braking guide for more detail.

Audi e-tron Calibration Pricing

ServicePrice
Windscreen Calibration£199
Radar/Sensor Calibration£349
Collision Calibration£349
Full System Reset£499

The e-tron's zFAS-connected systems mean that multi-sensor faults after collision are common – our £499 Full System Reset recalibrates radar, camera, parking sensors, and clears all related DTCs in a single session.

Audi e-tron ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Audi e-tron

The calibration process is the same – the sensors, cameras, and radar units use identical technology regardless of powertrain. The difference is integration: the e-tron's Adaptive Cruise Assist ties into regenerative braking, so accurate radar calibration affects both safety and energy efficiency. Our IMI-certified technicians calibrate to the same OEM standard across all Audi powertrains.
