Alfa Romeo Stelvio ADAS Calibration

The Stelvio is the most common Alfa Romeo in the UK – an SUV on the proprietary Giorgio platform with the full Highway Assist suite. Its higher ride height compared to the Giulia means different calibration reference angles for the same sensor hardware. The Stelvio also sees more parking damage and front-end encounters than the saloon, making ADAS recalibration a more frequent need.

ADAS Systems on Your Alfa Romeo Stelvio

The Stelvio (2017+) shares the Giorgio platform with the Giulia:

  • Highway Assist System – combines IACC with Lane Centering for Level 2 motorway driving (MY2020+)
  • Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control (IACC) – radar-based adaptive cruise
  • Forward Collision Warning with Full Stop – AEB capable of bringing the vehicle to a complete stop
  • Lane Centering (LC) – active steering within lane markings
  • Lane Departure Warning – audible alert when crossing lane markings
  • Active Blind Spot Assist – rear bumper sensors for adjacent lane detection
  • Rear Cross Path Detection – cross-traffic warning when reversing
  • Traffic Sign Recognition – camera-based speed limit detection

The Stelvio uses the same Giorgio-specific sensor positions as the Giulia – the front radar sits in a location unique to this platform, not shared with other Stellantis brands. The windscreen camera is behind the rear-view mirror. The SUV's higher stance means calibration targets account for the different radar and camera angles.

When Your Alfa Romeo Stelvio Needs Calibration

After Bumper Repair or Parking Impact

The Stelvio's SUV dimensions put it at bollard and barrier height – front bumper contact is common. The Giorgio-platform radar behind the bumper powers IACC and Forward Collision Warning with Full Stop. Any repair involving bumper removal shifts this sensor from its calibrated position. Radar recalibration at £349 restores the system.

Highway Assist Not Activating

If your Stelvio's Highway Assist stopped engaging on the motorway, the camera or radar may need recalibration. This commonly occurs after bumper work, windscreen replacement, or even wheel alignment changes that affect sensor geometry.

After Windscreen Replacement

Forward Collision Warning, Lane Centering, and TSR depend on the windscreen camera. Every glass replacement requires recalibration – our windscreen calibration at £199 covers this. See all Alfa Romeo models

Alfa Romeo Stelvio ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Alfa Romeo Stelvio

Yes – identical Giorgio-platform hardware and systems. The difference is the SUV's higher ride height, which changes calibration reference angles. A calibration configured for the Giulia's lower stance would not be accurate on the Stelvio.
