Alfa Romeo Giulia ADAS Calibration

The Giulia sits on the proprietary Giorgio platform – the only rear-drive architecture in the Stellantis group, with sensor positions shared by no other brand. A body shop familiar with Peugeot or Citroën ADAS will find the Giulia's sensor layout unfamiliar, because the Giorgio platform was developed before Alfa Romeo joined Stellantis. If your Giulia's Highway Assist stopped engaging after a bumper repair, the radar is in a Giorgio-specific position that requires specialist calibration knowledge.

ADAS Systems on Your Alfa Romeo Giulia

The Giulia (2016+) sits on the Giorgio platform:

  • Highway Assist System – combines IACC with Lane Centering for Level 2 semi-autonomous motorway driving (MY2020+)
  • Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control (IACC) – radar-based adaptive cruise
  • Forward Collision Warning with Full Stop – automatic emergency braking capable of bringing the vehicle to a complete stop
  • Lane Centering (LC) – active steering to keep the vehicle centred in its lane
  • Lane Departure Warning – audible alert when crossing lane markings
  • Active Blind Spot Assist – rear bumper sensors detecting vehicles in adjacent lanes
  • Traffic Sign Recognition – camera-based speed limit detection

The front radar sits in a Giorgio-specific bumper position – not the standard Stellantis CMP layout used by the Tonale or Junior. The windscreen camera is behind the rear-view mirror. Highway Assist activates via the left steering wheel button.

Common Giulia ADAS Triggers

Highway Assist Not Engaging

Highway Assist faults are a common Alfa Romeo forum complaint. The system requires both the camera and radar to be precisely aligned – if either was disturbed during bumper work, wheel alignment, or windscreen replacement, Highway Assist will refuse to activate on the motorway. Radar recalibration and camera calibration restore the system.

After Bumper Repair or Front-End Collision

The Giulia's front radar sits in a position unique to the Giorgio platform. Body shops experienced with other Stellantis brands may attempt standard CMP-platform procedures, which do not apply. If IACC stopped working after a repair, the calibration must follow Giorgio-specific targets.

After Windscreen Replacement

Forward Collision Warning, Lane Centering, and TSR depend on the windscreen camera. Every glass replacement requires recalibration – our windscreen calibration at £199 covers this. See all Alfa Romeo models

Alfa Romeo Giulia ADAS Calibration — FAQ

Common questions about calibrating ADAS systems on the Alfa Romeo Giulia

No. The Giulia sits on the proprietary Giorgio platform with unique sensor positions. The Tonale uses a Stellantis CMP-derived platform with different sensor locations. Calibration procedures differ between the two.
